I know that this thread is long abandoned... Still, I think that disconnecting the battery is best way to go, as the battery will naturally discharge but at a slower rate if it is connected to alarmed car - mine had gone dead on several occasions at airport parking lots... Also, the alarm has it's own internal battery that is charged up when it is connected to the main system - that battery (capacitor??!) is not lasting too long when alarm is going off but can last long enough to kill the ignition when the main battery is disconnected. I am considering hardwiring a solar panel into the sunroof's shade cover for a discreet recharging option... Still in development stage for that...
