It has a layer of UV protection embedded within the glass layers. The windshield has a purplish tint when looking outside in and from inside looking out, it looks a little brownish, and is much easier on the eyes... And with you being in Texas, it will definitely help with the heat.

It should cost about the same as the OEM windshield (at least that's what they charged at the dealer).
