Kickdown

Hi

I am new to this site. I am UK based and am on another forum x5drivers.co.uk

I used to drive a BMW X5 3.0i manual X5 and loved it, so upgraded to a 4.4i and had to lump the automatic gears. Its a 2004 facelift model

Here is the problem, I am of the belief that my gear box is defective. In Kickdown it will rev into the red zone and on occasion will bounce off the rev limiter.

I have driven a range of automatic cars (but enver owned one until now) and have never seen an automatic car red line and bounce off the limiter. This only happens in kickdown or by pushing the gas pedal to the point just above the kickdown switch.....

I spoke to a pal who used to work briefly in F1 and extensively in the motor trade and he thinks its odd. I am at a dielemma, take it to the dealler (its still got warranty left) but could be charged £100 (approx 200usd) if they find nothing wrong so want to pretty sure before I take it in.

To cut a long story short is redlining a feature of 4.4i (or any automatic BMW) in kickdown.
