That IS annoying, X5!
Two benefits could come of this tho: 1) You make clear to the dealer that due to the inconvience of the unnecessary drive, you expect a wash & detail while you sip coffee in the lounge. Even my wife enjoyed the roses they gave last time ![]() 2) Then again, 60 miles is a loong way to go for a wash, so perhaps it's time to pick up a code-reset tool? This error would be covered on obc2, cause it relates to engine/trans, right? It's not one of the Bimmer-specific ones that requires a sep reader, is it? |

You'll need a Peake Research Tool. Great investment IMHO!

ahhhhh lets see 60miles one way at 15miles to the gallon = 4 gallons one way = 8 round trip at 2.80/gallon = 20.40... the tool probably costs a hell of a lot more... and while im at the $tealer i can have them swap out the clear 3rd brake light since mine is now scratched up due to the wiper blade insert being too long and that was done at the $tealer as well

NO TOOL IS NECESSARY! The following instructions from another site will electronically reset the service indicator lights by using the "Trip Odometer" stalk in conjunction with the ignition key:
- Ignition OFF (POS 0) - Press and hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position1 (ACCESSORY) - Keep the button depressed (about 5 seconds) until you see "Oil Service" or "Inspection" with "Reset" or "Re" in the display. - Note: On vehicles with "High" cluster, you will also see the amount of fuel (in litres) remaining until next service. - Press the button again and hold for approximately 5 seconds until "Reset or "Re" flashes. - WHILE THE DISPLAY IS FLASHING, briefly press the button again to reset the Service Interval. After the display has shown the new interval you should see "END SIA" for about 2 seconds. NOTE: If the "Reset" or "Re" does not flash, then you have not met the minimum consumption level and cannot reset.
