The Ractive tips are a bit smaller and more rounder (around the edge) than the 4.8 ones. Oh...it's about a third of the price too

Those wheels are from the Sport Package for 3.0 X5s.

I had purchased both sets. The 4.8 would actually fit over the Ractive's. The difference is really just the shape from square to oval round edges. The Ractive's again fit into the 4.8's.

I think the 4.8's are better but since I have a 3.0 I'm better off doing the Ractive option, BTW how much should I tell the muffler shop to cut from the tips so they'll fit?

Changing the tips wouldn't change any sound. The 4.8 looks great, but ractive tips looks just fine, as long as it's shortened.
