Question on playing MP3's...
Please don't suggest getting an iPod...I really don't want one of those! |

King, you're too much of an old timer to be overlooking the articles on x5world.

Apparently this does not work with DSP sound??? I see Soundgate makes an adapter for DSP systems. Kinda' pricey though...about $260 and then you have to buy the MP3 changer itself!
I see one article where someone has done this MOD. I think it beats having an iPod if your changer supports all kind of CD's! The Alpine unit even supports MP3 tags...I wonder if the Soundgate adapter converts them on to the NAV screen though. Anyone else done this MOD??

The Alpine changer does support MP3 tags, but only in the Ai-NET mode. The M-bus mode (which does NOT support MP3 tags) required by the Soundgate adapter will prevent you from seeing anything on your NAV screen other than the CD# plus track#.
