Heated Steering Retrofit
I got the wheel, but when i took off the airbag from my current wheel, there is no pre-wire for the heating coil. I notice on my replacement wheel that the only wires missing are two wires in a purple connector. I assume these are 12v + and -. One wire is red and one brown. Does anyone know how to hook these up, or has anyone done this retrofit before? Thanks |

I did it. You need a new clockspring. Cost about $75. You should then be able to locate the connectors in the steering column loom that connect to the back of the clockspring. Fuse 29 in the glovebox is for the heated wheel. You may need to "jumper" the fusebox to get switched power to the fuse. WORKS GREAT!

Have you seen this article? My dealer screwed up the order and missed the heated wheel. So, I want to add the heated wheel option as well, never got to doing it.

I paid only GBP60 for the wheel! Most of his auctions close for over 100-150 |

Is there wiring that goes from the fuse box to the clockspring? |

I don't have the part number anymore. Box is history. My dealer had one in stock. It seems all the new clock springs are prewired for heated steering wheels. Be sure to check the 2 pin sockets on both sides of the spring have 2 pins actually in place in case your dealer has some old stock. In my vehicle the wiring was there from fuse box to the steering column. The 2 pin connector was taped up behind the old clock spring. All that was required was to get switched power to the fuse.

As far as I know it should. Seems like there is a lot of interchangeability with steering wheels. If I remember correctly the one I got came from a 7er.
If you need more info on the wiring PM me and I'll see what I can do to help.
