Does anyone have any idea what this is!

I had to replace my Dension Ice->link this morning. I opened up my center console and removed the inner box in order to get to the unit.

Lying inside the console I found this

I could not see where it went. I have no idea what it is for or what it is! can anyone shed some light on it?

Can you take a pic next to a penny? That will give an idea to scale.

That's a pfeltzer valve. It controls the fluid pressure to the steptronic shifting mechanism. How is your X shifting lately?

That's the Flux-Capacitor, once you hit 88MPH the X5 can travel through time.

It looks like a spring - the only thing that I can think of is that it is part of the rear cup holder mechanism?

@SuperGreg My X5 is shifting great no problems there

I will take a picture next to a penny and re-post - the "object" is not big at all about a inch high and half an inch wide - the center bit (black) actually slips out.. I am still puzzled! it was just lying there
