Sounds like you have the wrong settings I had something simular with a multi region home dvd player a few years ago !!

but I have tried all the settings in all the different ways possible and my single brain cell can't handle anymore

I work in the post production field, I am very familiar with both NTSC and Pal systems (from an engineering point of view). The first thing I would need to know is: you said you could see a B&W image in the Pal mode. when you see the B&W image is the ratio normal, or is it streched on the verticals. From what I understand you have a combo screen/dvd plyr. both dvd and screen must be in pal and the dvd needs to be multi/format and multi/zone. if the image is strech then your monitor is still in ntsc mode, or is not receiving a pal signal (either brodcasting Pal in ntsc or vice-versa).

well, i heard back from the rep. at Vizualogic. unfortunately, he's never heard of such an issue. u've stumped him. he did go on to suggest contacting their tech support though; which, i'm sure u could've already guessed that. sorry.... let us know what u find out.
