22" Tire Sizes Need Opinions and Facts

First let me start by saying that I have read other threads about this topic; i still have questions/issues as this is $1000 or more worth of rubber and I don't wanna f.. this up.

Nevertheless, I am going with 22x9.5 all the way around on a 4.4i w/ current sport pkg, and I'm looking for the best tire fitment to go with. Discount Tires is suggesting 285/35/22 for the best fit. I read somewhere that this size is "off on spec" and will cause a 4% differential in my speedo; not too happy about that. Other companies are talking 305/40/22 all the way around as well, but I have read that these will rub in the front. I've also read/heard about going with 295/30/22, but I haven't been able to find these in a good brand/price.

Any suggestions or experiences with these sizes??? I need all the help I can as I want to get these on ASAP (before I spend the money elsewhere.. )

I believe it was me that advised that 285/35/22 will give u a 4% difference.
Its a 4% increase if you oem are 20"!Otherwise its only a 2.81% increase on others.

The 295/30/22 will give you the correct rol.diametre, but if you cant find this you have to go 4 an alternative! Can you get 285/30/22?this is only 0.95%
decrease!

Those companies that recommended the 305/40/22 should be shot! These will give you an increase of 10.3%.......(+75mm!)

i still think you should stick with the 285 35, your going to have more rubber between the rim and the road and will provide better protection against bent rims. at 295/30/22 tire is extremely thin.

You also fill out the wheel wells a little more.

Im taking it all in consideration....

If the difference is <3% on the 285/35, then I won't complain about that...
I may look into the 295/30 or 285/30 but that sidewall is quite important in regards to too small or too large....

Need more suggestions, Need more suggestions.....

There really arent many more suggestions we can give you!
I gave you the data on correct size tyres and Krunk has given you practical advice in saying that the 295/30 will indeed be too low/thin and wont offer you much wheel protection.
I believe Krunk has the 285/35 on his signature! It does feel your wheelarch better and will offer you more wheel kerb protection, although as I said it isnt the correct size.
Try to get your tyre place to fit on your wheel the size tyre we refer to and choose for yourself! Its really a personal decision !Good luck.
