Sounds like your key is programmed to one of the 1-2-3 buttons that is not the one you are setting for yourself. Put the key in the igintion, start the car, set everything, hit M-1 at the same time. Turn the car off. Adjust the seats again to test everything...now lock the car. Then unlock the car by pushing the button on the key.

Currently, all three seat presets are set to the exact same position ie when i hit 1, 2 then 3 the seats stays where it is. I will try again.

That may indeed be true but you need to do this with the key in the ignition in the on position to program the key with the seat information.

The thing that finally worked was locking and unlocking the vehicle via the drivers door with the key.
