I need some advice...

Like every other 3.0 owner I've been thinkin about adding one of the kits to my X. I'm sure everyone agrees that the 4.8 look is definitely the hottest but do you think its worth it to do a complete front end change? I guess I'm just lookin for some fellow X5'ers to talk some sense into me before I go crazy and spend that kinda money. A big part of my problem is that I want the 4.8 wheels and I'm not sure about the idea of those wheels and a 4.6 kit. What do you guys think?...

to swap your front end to look like the 4.8 will cost way too much, probably over $4-5k, bmw recently raised the prices for each part, used to be $2-3k...honestly i'd rather put that $ to better use, the 4.6 kit is good enough and will look just fine with 4.8 wheels

I'd pass, but that's just m/opin...

The X5 looks very good in all years
and in all its iterations. To spend that
kinda dough on that surgery is beyond
the "mod effort": it's a wolf look without
all the teeth.

Like those 20" wheels, go get 'em; but,
the "overhaul" idea is really overdone.

Why not go shopping for a 4.6 or 4.8 if
that look is so to your yearning?

Not, "every other 3.0 owner I've been thinkin about adding one of the kits to my X."

Your dough, though.

You could ask x54.4blue. He may have an opinion about this.

why 4.8 wheels? Personally if i was in ur position id get the 4.6wheels. They look bigger and have a cleaner look IMO

Also instead of changing your whole body and replacing it with new bumpers aND what not..
why dont u just paint the moldings, honestly if u paint the moldings, it will look almost nearly as good as having a whole 4.8/4.6kit

I would go for the 4.6 kit, cost is not too bad and get the 168's that you want. To each his own.

Thanks for the feedback...whether pos or neg your points are all well taken. In the first sentence of my original post I said I was thinkin about it but who knows... the 4.6 look sounds logical but we'll see what happens.

I'm not completely sold on the 4.6 wheels though and its not because I dont think they are nice. I just like how the 4.8s are full and kinda have a "chunky" look to them if you know what I mean...I'm gonna look into it some more and maybe once I see them on different X's with different heights, etc. I'll be ready to do mine...
