NCX, I think they look awesome. Congrads on getting this. I am soon to ge mine on and have a question. I have 4.4i and will be installing the same running boards. The running boards come with the flares? Is it a one or 2 piece flare set up? From reading your post, I understand that you took off your 4.6 flares and replaced them with the flares that came with the running boards. I believe the 4.6 flares are 2 pieces. Can you just clairify exactly what you did.
I want to avoid buying 4.6 flares with my running boards. Since I am getting the 4.6kit front and rear aprons, and aluminum running boards than I really do not have to purchase the 4.6 flares in addition since I will be using the flares that come with the running boards....is this true?

No contest...before and aft pic. Much better with the RBs on especially against black sapphire.

Those running boards were made for you Sapphire Black X5! Looks perfect. I'm awaiting delivery of running boards for my Oxford Green X5. I got the running boards primarily for practical reasons (my wife is short and needs a step), but I wonder how my color scheme will work with the running boards. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

SOOO NICE! Definitely keep them on. I think they look great on any X, but the darker colors go soo nicely with them!

Yes, the running boards come with the flares and will work for a 4.4 no prob. You should not have the additional expense of buying extra (different) rear flares that the 4.6 and 4.8 owners have to buy in order to use the alum boards. For my 4.6, I had to buy the 2 additional rear flares and not use the ones in the kit. However, if you want the flares to look like a 4.6 style, I think you will need to buy the two flares mentioned in the link below. You should be able to use the front flares that come with the kit though. On your 4.4 everything should match up fine with the flares in the kit unless you are changing to a 4.6 flare style. If that is the case, I *think* you will need to buy the 2 new rear flares and not use the rear flares in the kit. Let an expert chime in here and straighten it out for you. Also use the search above on 'running boards' and you will find a lot of good info. See this thread for more info: http://www.xoutpost.com/showthread.ph...running+boards |
