Is this an "M" Wheel or a "Sport"?

This wheel shows as the upgrade to my square wheel on the BMW Part Catalog. There is a separate listing for the Sport Wheel itself. This one seems to have the thumb rests.

Hard to tell since it is not a photo. M steering wheels are a bit more narrow in the lower post and do have a M logo there as well. I think this one is a sport wheel.

Just so I understand prior to ordering a wheel......the 04' Sport Wheel is different than the 03' Sport Wheel, it has the "thumb rests"?

I really want an "M" Wheel and know that I need to order a new Airbag because I'm upgrading from a stock non-sport X5 wheel. I also want to retain the heated wheel function that I presently have.

Anyone have the part number for that particuliar "M" wheel that has the heated wheel funtion that will work with my 03'?

Im an expert on this,

so ill conclude this THREAD.

the 2004+ X5 SPORT wheel is what you see in the top PICTURE with the thumb rests.

2000-2003 X5 SPORT wheels are what you see in the second picture.

SINCE X5s didnt come in the M class because it technically isnt a sports car ( my driving thinks otherwise), so they never introduced a M wheel for the x5.

I think what we can do though is get the new M wheel that is on the M6 / M5

Hope that helps!

The conclusion with the M5/M6 wheel was that it would take modification to get it to fit properly in the X5. These really are your two direct swap options:
