Fan Problems
I have a 2002 X5 3.0 I was having a problem with the interior fan cycling from off to low to high all by its self. I read the thread on the Final Stage resistor as being the likely problem. I took it to a repair shop (Independent BMW Service Center) they tested the circuit board pulled it and reseated it, tested the Final Stage Resistor, it checked out OK. The A/C as it wasn't pumping out cold air. It was changed and A/C works fine. Problem now is I put the car in the garage and after I shut it off, and removed the key, The fan was cycling on and off, after 6 hours went out to start the car....dead battery...Jumped battery started fine went for a long drive to charge battery...car back in garage..will check in AM....Any thoughts on what drained the battery????

what you are referring to is the auxillary fan and not the interior fan. Nothing to do the final stage resistor. Make sure they have performed all the TSBs on the aux fan recalls. (2 of them I believe)

Do you know what the TSB's for the Aux fan are.
