Dealers around here wont paint it for a reasonable price. It also depends on the look you want. It doesn't look right on all colors.
But if you do have a body shop, it would be a lot less to just paint the pieces. I have heard that you get a % off as well, but only certain dealerships honor that.

i just want it to look like the 4.8, i have an 03 4.4, i dont like the black plastic everywhere and since im planning on lowering it with 22" hamanns the black will not complement the look well at all..

Get the 4.8/4.6 kit and put the clear bra. Do it right the first time. Will look much better. Painted bumpers(without the kit) look cheap even after spending money.
I have the entire front area including bumper covered with clear bra.

yeah i dont really like the 03 front even painted, the sides and back look good but the 04 4.6/8 front is way better.. i think i read that if i put the front bumper on, i would have to change the hood/fenders.. is that right?

Since you have 2003 X5, you can put the 4.6 kit without changing much. The 4.8 kit fits better on post-2003 models. Not sure about the fenders...i don't think you should have too unless you are putting running boards and 20" wheels etc.
Edit: did not read correctly, thought you were talking about fender flares. You do not have to change fenders with 4.6 kit.

Yeah, I agree I the 4.8 looks a lot meaner than the 4.6 front.
I think I'm going to get the rear first, I don't want to go through the hassel of taking off the front bumper. I wish there was a add on alternative like the 2000-2003 had.
