AC Fan Stopped working !

Hi,

I have known the board for a while, and would like to congratulate you all for this excellent board and forum.

I have a mid 2002 X5 4.6 and i realised a couple of days ago that I lost ability to control the A/C interior FAN.

Basically it does not run at ALL... I can adjust the settings and see the controls changing, but no air at all is blowing from the vents... at all times...

I looked rapidly and found an article about the final stage resistor. Is is likely to be this or could it be the main fan motor which died ? In this article, it seems to indicate that the FAN has a life of his own and this is not my case, mine is 100 % SILENT !

What should I check to be sure ?

Thanks a lot !!

I'm on msn if you want to respond direct !

Please accept my appologies for my bad English, it is not my mother tongue...

Best regards...

Charles

Bad Final Stage Resistor, by the way, your English is great. Much better than many posters whose "mother tongue" is English

I would advise that you buy one from your dealer to ensure that it is the "new" improved part. Just my 2¢

Well,

if you all reckon that it is the Final Stage Regulator and the part # in the article is correct for my vehicle (European 2002 X5 4.6is) I will ask my local dealer to order a new one for me (and rip me off, but locally)

Charles

Hi again,

I have bought the Final Stage Resistor... it is much bigger than I imagined !

And did cost 64€ from the local BMW dealer which is not known to be cheap at all... (principality of Monaco !!!)

So the one on Ebay, is everything but a bargain...

Thanks for the info, I will put another post to tell you if it worked..

Charles...

I had the same problem with my -02 X5 4,6 yesterday!

First real spring day and the fan would not blow. Was really mad and tried to find out what the problem was. Turned off and started the car three times with no difference. But when I started the car down in my garage a hour later it worked.

Havent had any more problems. And I have started the car number of times sence.

Any ideas???

Bienvenue Charles! :xoutpost:

I agree with SuperGreg. Your English is excellent. I guess we can add another international location to X5world since you're in Monaco.
