Who is Murphy and what's up with his law?

It strikes again! I pulled up to my work parking lot this morning, saw a colleague, rolled down the passenger side window to say hello and ask him a question, window won't go back up. It was trying to but it wouldn't. I had rolled it down almost all the way but when I rocked the switch to raise the window, it went down all the way and wouldn't come back up. Yup, window regulator number two for me although on a different window. The crappy part: it was raining. (It does not rain very often where I live so this is extra crappy.) I guess the only saving grace was that it happened while I was there so I could go get it taken care of rather than coming out to a soaking wet interior later.

I raced over to my dealer and they were able to take care of me. They're the only one for 90 miles around and they are busy as all hell but they try hard. They squeezed me in and even got me an 3.0 X3 loaner with less than 5000 miles on the clock and equipped with Sirius satellite radio. Coolness!

On another note, they got a few E90's in but I didn't get to see them. They had just arrived and were stashed away. I popped in to see the sales manager and promptly put my name as NUMBER 1 on the list for the E90 M3. Whoo hoo! I'm not sure I'll actually get it because we really don't know enough about it right now, especially price, but I'm still first on the list.

Bummer on the window regulator, but glad the dealer was able to squeeze you in.

Good news on being number one on the list for an E90 M3. If you decide not to get one, you can always auction your spot on eBay for a nice chunk of change

Sucks about your window, Kevin... That's a problem that I was lucky enough not to have to deal with! It's cool that you got a nice loaner. It seems that dealers are turning their whole loaner fleets into X3 only. My dealer used to have 325Ci, xi, etc., and some X5s and 5ers. Now they only have X3s. It's so cool that you're #1 on the list for the E90 M3. It's shaping up to be a great car!

The dealers by me have such a limited number of loaners that almost all of them stick you with an Enterprise rental instead. it blows.

My dealer has converted their loaner fleet over to all X3's whereas they used to have some 3ers. I'm surprised that they have 3.0's rather than just 2.5's.

My dealer's policy, based on the limited number of loaners and the high number of clients, is to only give you a loaner if you bought your BMW from them. You have to book well in advance to get a BMW loaner, otherwise you get a nice Focus or Taurus rental.

My local Porsche dealer uses only rentals. I have heard of some Porsche dealers actually have Boxster loaners. My last loaner from them was a Chebby Cavalier. Hey, at least I got a loaner.

If my 2nd car wasn't an '04 Z16 Corvette, I wouldn't care what kind of loaner they had, but I can't use that as a daily driver.... ok, well I could, but i won't!

Except for one time, I've always gotten a loaner from my dealer. Once they didn't have enough so they offered us a Hyundai or something... I was with my dad and he said he'd rather wait three hours than drive that piece of crap all the way home (>45 miles each way)... We've had a 325Ci, a 325xi, and then a bunch of X3s.

Geez Joel you guys are lucky. If we're talking Tulley here I get Fords or Pontish!ts - I have not gotten a BMW loaner yet.

Are you kidding? That's bad... You'd think that if you pay $40k+ for a car, they'd at least treat you right and give you a nice loaner, but no....
