Climate Control Help
My 2001 X5 (LH 60802)has developed a symptom where the blower fan cycles randomly to its maximum speed regardless of the setting on the control panel.
Dealer acknowledges this is a common fault in all BMW product and communicated for $A280 a component could be replaced to rectify the fault. From the forum it appears there are many owners experiencing like difficulties. Has anyone determined the location of this component and is it repairable by someone possessing a reasonable knowledge of electronics? Its a damn expensive bill to negotiate if it is only a matter of replacing a resistor etc. It appears this fault developed during a recent bout of hot weather, have the European engineers under designed this control circuit to deal with high ambient temperatures? Any info gratefully received.Gravy |

Right, it's the final stage resistor. The repacement is an upgrade, and can be had for about $70 US (try ebay = http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-F...pagenameZWDVW). If your handy, you can repace it yourself, search this thread; Final Stage Resistor Replacement . Good luck
