Stiff Suspension 4.8is

I know the 4.8is is basically a sports car that can tow and I have driven three different models, an X3, 325 and M Coupe all stiff also! But the ride seems very harsh compared to the Touareg. Is this normal? And how is the ride of the vehicle when towing?

But as far as the ride goes, id agree with you, it is very stiff and in my opinion, I LOVE THAT!

I like the stiff ride and handling. I have towed over 4000 lbs and the ride was fine.

Go get a Lexus. You're not a BMW person. That's Ok. End of story.

I like the stiff ride, I was really wondering how it will be towing! Obviously I test drove numerous 4.8's before finding the one and was aware it was set up with a sport suspension. I just installed the Tow Kit since I am a manufacturers rep and have a display trailer that weighs 3000 lbs I have to tow now and then. No harm intended!

The 4.8 is will tow with no problem at all. The ride is stiff. But that is due mostly to the 20 inch wheels. The sidewall is very slim and stiff. But yes the suspension is also stiff. But thats why it will outhandle pretty much every suv outhere plus most sedans and sport sedans. You can have performance with a soft ride. Now your VW was probably one of the softer and suspensions out there and it was nice cruising at 75 on the higheway but it cant keep up with a 4.8. 2 totally different beast. If you wanted a softer suspension you should have went with a 4.4 with full airsuspension. Very nice ride compared to the 4.8 and has almost the same power. Definately much faster than the VW

Thanks for all the replys! I am happy with the ride and I am glad to let the Touareg go! I will hook up the trailer tomorrow and let you know the outcome.
