It appears that it would fit, physically. Assume you have the 3.0, 17" wheels.
It is not a performance tire, it is a light truck tire. Better for a half ton pickup, IMO. Not suited to the design of the X5. It is rated S, not the OEM H rating. This alone should disqualify it. So, in summary, yes you could put them on, and no, you shouldn't. Go to tirerack.com and see the comparisons. Jeff

![]() Unless you're trying to meeting certain budget needs, the Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus are excellent. They wear well, they ride well, and they are one of the OEM 17" tires for the 3.0i X5. Like Jeff says, use Tirerack.com as a reference guide to narrow down your choices. |

I think i should be ok with these after doing a little research on them... I read numberous reviews with several small and large SUV owners.. Even a review from a RX300 who praised them.. They are said to be quiet, smoothe which is important to me. We dont have snow here in the south so that really isnt an issue.. It does however have a little more aggressive tread pattern. Which may give my truck a "beefier" look.. We shall see.. I dont think it is going to mess up anything on the truck.. If they are quiet and smoothe i will be happy.

OK, but if you had already decided to go ahead and buy a tire that is not designed for your type of vehicle, which will degrade the cornering and braking performance, and which won't be safe at speed, why did you ask?
The noise will be low compared to other LT tires, not compared to a tire like the MXV4. Anyway, do what you want, it is your mom's money after all.

I believe Sams club may be like Costco in that even if they don't have your tire they can order it. But I agree that you should consider getting the tire that's made for your vehicle. IMHO the one your considering may be the wrong choice for your BMW. Vehicle MFGS recommend tires based on many factors, suspension being one of them. Remember the wrong choice may be unsafe at any price.

Choose the tyre you want but you may well find if it's not recommended by the vehicle manufacturer it will invalidate your insurance if you have a prang, I know this is the case in the UK mainly due to the speed rating of the tyre.So i agree with JCL get what is recommended the extra bucks could be worth it.

There's more to it besides speed. The tire has to be rated for your specific car, it's suspension, weight, the fuel milage you can expect to achieve ect. Getting the wrong tire can also put you at risk when you expect your vehicle to handle a certain way under certain conditions. I believe the posted comments have your best interest at heart. I don't think any of us work for the rubber companies but we do know that the wrong tires can put you at risk when driving your vehicle so it has been suggested that you check with Sams club and see if they can order the correct tire for your car. That way you don't run into issues later on with your suspension and BMW looks at your tires and tells you that you have caused problems because you have the wrong kind of tires mounted on your vehicle. But as for us in the forum to just answer yes or no as to weather we have them or not would not satisfy our obligation to inform you of the facts. You do have the choice to get the tires you want but we have the obligation to warn you about the ramifications of your decision. All the best with your decision.
