'Engine Failsave Prog'?

My x brake down on the road today and show 'Engine Failsave Prog' in the dash board. When I started the engine when it is hot, it shut down after the engine started. Anyone knows what the problem is? When I started the engine when it is cold, it ran like someone kept push and release the accelerator. Please help me!!!

Your alternator is probably dead.
Is the battery light on?

Thanks, CanadianX5! No, the battery light is not on, only the service engine soon light on. And I just had my x inspection I done 1 week ago. Is that possible they missed something during the inspection?
