4.8 mufflers on a 3.0

Finally, i got these babies installed on my 3.0. ( since there is only about 6 inches remaining on the inlet pipes-[previously cut], they need to be welded)
First, I went to 2 different muffler shops close to me
1. First shop=They said i have to leave the X for a day or two---yeah right
2. Second shop=They saw the mufflers and have a different shape so they said its impossible-- morons!
And I remember ekaz ( Thanks, Eric!) mentioning Dino's at harlem/addison in Chicago ( about 15 mins from me) I went there, NO nonsense and it took only 45 mins to finish the job. This guy ( Dino)'s welding skill is like holding a pen and signing his name.
Very nice clean work

Nice job, please give more info.

Please give more info. about the exhaust tips parts, did you X have single exhaust outlet on each side? how much did you pay for everything? I am very interested on getting the same thing done on my X. your X look much better with the new exhaust tips. Thanks for sharing.

i acquired these mufflers from one of our board members on this board, (considering new ones from the dealer are like $1200ish a pair? )
i got these for almost free!
welding job $60 + a generous tip for a very wonderful job from Dino!

Some members of this board purchased just the 4.8 or 4.6 tips ( around $120ish each? i think )and got them welded on their 3,0 or 4.4
Others got the ractive tips ( about $45 each) -slightly smaller than the 4.8
Just do a search under "4.8 tips" or "ractive tips" and a lot of threads with pics will show up

That guy Dino is a star! Not only is the welding great but he managed to align the tips perfectly.Definitely one of the best exhaust install that I have seen!A lot of them are all twisted!
I have done this install on my 3.0D and I know how patient I had to be to get a near perfect alignment of the tips.

these are not the tips only, these are the whole 4.8 mufflers , so the welding part was done only at the inlet pipes, no welding on the tips..
