Possibly buying an 02 X5 sport, prem, nav, cold weather, xenons today

The car is an 02 wih 40k miles on it. It has the factory warranty until OCT 06. Was just wondering if I can add an extended warranty to it before the factory warranty expires.

Also is there a way to get it CPO'd? Or getting the CPO warranty til OCT 08 or 100,000 miles? How much do you think it will cost me?

Thanks

I'd definitely get the extended warranty....it's usually a bit north of $1,000. There are some threads around here about the CPO stuff. Good luck, let us know how it turns out!

I have the same car which I purchased about 12 months ago w/50k miles. Have driven the car 11k and have done two repairs for $1.7k so far, plus the large service too.

Getting it CPO'd would be a good idea. Are you buying form a BMW dealer or just an independent dealer? Call the nearest BMW dealer to see what the procedure of getting it CPO'd, it def. pays for itself and makes you feel safer is something goes wrong. So far I had to replace the front speakers, steering wheel, controll arm & bushings, battery, and on-board computer unit, all coverd under the CPO.

So I bought the X and am very happy. It has the factory warranty til Sept 06. I also got an extened warranty(not CPO warranty) that covers 4 years 48,000 miles from today. So now my car will be covered til 2010 or 87,000 miles. I got this at Fields BMW/Infiniti for around $1900. I think this was a pretty good deal since what counts most for me is the warranty date coverage as opposed to miles driven(like the CPO's 100,000 mile) since I won't drive it much. What do you guys think?

Oh yeah, the car also has the rear climate pkg. Also when I bought the car from dealer the rear sunshade would not go back down and the tabs on the top window were broken(the ones that hold the sunshade up). I was told that Fields BMW ill cover it since I'm still under factory warranty though. What do you guys think?

I've had my "tabs" fixed a number of times under the original warranty. You should not have a problem. Look for other stuff that might be wrong, or wearing out prematurely and get it all fixed at the same time. BTW, I had a 2002 X5, and now have an '05 X5 -- they are solid cars.

Good luck -- Kelly

Good for you!

Congrats on your purchase - I am sure you will be happy everytime you turn the key on the ignition.

The tabs are like $2 each; but have them replace it when you get the X5 checked out.
