Portable GPS mount on dash mod

I was thinking of getting the proclip mount but i dont want to block the vent or i also dont want to mount anything on the windshield. so here's a solution:
I doublestick taped a black round "hockey puck looking" plastic above the vents where the suction will be sticking
Tell me what you folks think....

Nice! Ive been looking for an aftermarket Nav solution for quite some time, but the mounting options have turned me off...This is definitely doable...

maybe i should do another article on this. the hockeypuck thingy is just a cap for a black spraypaint i trimmed. the dashboard is curved, so the cut on the cap should match the curve or else it wont sit flush. also make sure the cap is glossy type so the suction will stick

Pretty nice. My Garmin Nuvi 350 came with a black plastic disc to stick to the dash but I can't bring myself to stick it to my dash. How does it feel when you're pressing on the screen to input? Is it stable?

input on the screen with the stylus is pretty stable, ..
BTW , what's stopping you from sticking that disc on your dash?

I'm just hesitant to stick the disc to the dash just in case I ever want to remove it, I think it will leave a permanent mark and it will fade differently than the rest of the dash. I might break down and do it someday but for now I'm pretty happy with the mount beside the rearview mirror. It's a fairly natural line of sight since I'm used to looking up at the mirror, it's out of the way enough to not block my forward view, and the speakers are closer to my head so my bad ears can hear better.

I do like the mount that your nav unit came with. It looks secure and easy to use. It's very similar to the Garmin Nuvi mount.

Thanks for posting these pix. Such a simple idea, but yet an elegant way to mount a portable GPS. I have the same Navman GPS and have been looking for various ways in mounting it other than the windshield (wanted something closer within reach). Now, I have to go out and find that puck-like thingy
