has anyone put a shark fin antenna on their X5. The one off bimmian is nice but i don't think it will match the look of the SAV.

It's awful. For one thing, it's like one of those fake cellular phone antennas from the '80's. Another thing is that it doesn't mount flush. A friend of mine got one for his E46 330Ci despite me begging him not to. You can see a gap under the ends of it unless it's on a perfectly flat spot.

It actually detracts from the lines of the car if you ask me. If it is a functional antenna then it's something I'd have to live with.

Hmmm, saw a sharkfin antenna on an X5 (or was it an X3?) in their Munich showroom just two weeks ago whilst on a visit! Looked very nice if you ask me!

Oh that'll suck. Can't BMW come up with something a little less conspicuous?

Not all the new BMW's have fin. The 6-series is the only one in the new BMW's arsenal (excluding the roadsters) that doesn't have a fin. No fin at all.
All the antennas (BMW Assist and Bluetooth) are hidden under to trunk top and since the trunk top is made out of thermo-plastic, there is no interference.
