Harsh Ride 50 PSI Each Tire!

I complained to this forum about my harsh ride when I first received my 4.8 a couple weeks ago. My tire light came on and I check my pressures and they had 50 PSI except for the low one. I had the dealer check a few things when I first purchased and this was one of the things. I normally have my own gauge but forgot it in the Touareg trade in! I guess I need to double check all of their other work! The 4.8 rides fine now! I will complain no more!

50 PSI air pressure in the tires will most definately result in a harsh ride. Glad you were able to solve that issue.

Wow...talk about getting stiffed by the dealer...

Another Touareg survivor....sell, set on fire (j/k), lemon law, dealer buyback, or gun to the dealer's head? How'd you get rid of it?

I purchased the 4.8 from a Prosche, Audi, Volkswagen dealer in Los Ang and they gave me my payoff. I had one of the highest mileage vehicles in Calif and I think they just wanted to get rid of the 4.8 in place of the Touareg since they didn't know what they had. Prior to the Touareg I had am Audi Allroad which I did have then buy back and what do I do buy back basically the same vehicle. I really didn't have many problems with the Touareg though.

I think 50 psi is too much. Besides the harsh ride, at 50 psi the tire patch of contact to the pavement is reduced, actually resulting in less traction and cornering ability. The best tire pressure for performance and ride is usually the one recommended on the drivers door jamb (measured cold), or a few pounds over.
