on the drivers side wiper arm there is a "U" Section on the arm just by the end of the blade, is the blade meant to sit up in this "U" section at any point?

I have just fitted a new blade bt doesn't wipe the screen very well, so i was starting to think if the arm needs replacing?

i've not long had the car is thats why i ask?

Yes, the blade sits inside the "U" .... you can take the "U" off if you need to.. i did it to mine while fitting on the new style blade that don`t requiere all the smaller arms.
