Unhappy Thermostat question

Hi everyone! I just changed my water pump because it was leaking coolant all over the place. I started my truck and added coolant, but my temp. gauge goes right to hot when I start my car. The pin goes all the way to the far right on the temp gauge. Is my thermostat faulty? Do I have it in backwards?

did you change the t-stat also? if so, which direction did you put it in?

got your hoses connected correctly?

i would recommend you do not run the engine HOT at all... figure out what went wrong

Thermostat sticking 2003 X5 3.0

I just received my X5 from a local dealer and they told me that the Thermostat is sticking. Can anyone supply the correct removal and installation for the thermostat. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

turns out I just needed to take off my battery cable for a minute. All is good except for the parking brake light, ABS light, and the dsc light are all on after the reset. Soes anyone know how to turn these off? Do I need the Bmw computer for that?

Drive the vehicle for a short while and they should all go off on their own.
