Does your 2004 disk still work? If so, I would contact NavTeq and ask them to send you a replacement disk.

What version NAV OS do you have?
Go to your Nav system, hit MENU, then go to Settings and read the number at the right upper corner. Just curious. It probably shouldn't matter and maybe you got sent the wrong disc. Quote:

software version
My Software version is SW 4_1/42 This is a NEW 2005 X5.. just picked it up last week! I wish I knew why the new NAV disk will not work.. it works in my new 525i just fine.
The disk that came with the X5 is 2004-2. And that is the only disk that I can get to work in it. John |

Does the Sat Nav in the X5 read any DVD disk, the one that came with the car new?
Regarding the new disk, pop it in your computer DVD drive and see if you can "browse" the contents i.e. see what files are listed on it just to check the integrity of the disk. If this works then it's probably the wrong disk for the X5. Last edited by Donegal TDI; 05-03-2005 at 11:01 AM. |

Here's the problem. There are two different versions of the Navteq DVD for BMW's. One is for vehicles with the i-Bus (such as the X5) and the other is for vehicles with the CANBUS (such as the new 5 series). You should send one back and get the right one for the X5.

Thanks for all your help... YES, NAVTEQ screwed up and sent me the wrong disk. The new X5 takes a Different disk than other new BMW's. It uses a "HIGH" version, NOT the "PROFESSIONAL" version. It has a blue background, not green. NAVTEQ admitted their error, and are sending me the correct disk.
