Question Glasses Compartment Part No. please

Does this part exist? It's in the X5 online manual but I don't have it on my 2004 4.4 and searches on realoem and this site turn up nothing.

Never heard of it! But if you find it please share with the rest of us as it sounds like something I'd be very interested in!

I have the glasses compartment in my '02.

From what I've been reading our X5's in Australia are higher spec'd than your equivilents.

E.g. 3.0 sport comes with running boards, 19" V spoke wheels, sunglass compartment etc. 4.4 sports come with 20" wheels.

Mines still at the stealer after the airbag went off in my driveway, but when I get it back in two weeks I will pull the comprtment and get the number for you if you haven't already got it by then.

Cheers Matt

Hmmm these glasses holders are standard on all X5s with regular sunroofs. But on the newer X5s with panoramic roof then they're deleted.

If your X5 was produced after April 04, you won't have the sunglasses holder. I don't think you can retrofit it because the place where it used to be is now housing the interior motion detector. But if you don't care about the motion detector, I don't see why not. You might get false alarm codes (???).

But if you are still looking for the part #, go to the link below and look at item #5. There are different part numbers depending on the color of your interior headliner. The bad news is that you can't just get the sunglasses holder by itself, you will have to buy the whole overhead console. As you can see from the diagram, the sunglass holder is now replaced with a cover (item #24).

Thanks. I was looking at that page but didn't realize the glasses holder wasn't a separate part. The #5 items up to 01/2003 are the ones with the sunglasses holders and the ones from 01/2003 on are the ones with just the covers?

I guess if I had to choose between the motion sensors and the sunglasses holder then I'm sticking with the sensors.

Thanks everyone for the info.

Makes sense to me. I have the panoramic roof and I can't see where else they could put the motion sensors except where it is now.

I hope nobody was sitting in front of it at the time. Is this a freak occurrence or is there an issue with the BMW air bags?
