Just got my 20's and was wondering what kind of lock nuts everyone uses.

I just got a set at my dealer. The only problem I see though is that my original wheel bolts are a 17 mm head where the locking bolt key is a 19mm head. My X is new so I haven't even looked at the lug wrench to see if it has multiple sockets on it? I may have to carry a ratchet and 19mm socket to make sure I could change a flat. I'm installing my hitch today with the help of those who contributed to a great article here on how to do that. I'll then see the lug wrench and see what it is.

You need to double check and make sure they used the correct bolts on your wheels. All the bolts (including the lock) on my X5 are 19mm. I thought the 3/5 series use 17mm bolts?

I got the OEM lock, but it doesn't look all that secure as there are too few possible combination that I see. If I were to get a set of locks today, I would go with the McGuard lock, which have more key combination than the OEM.

When I bought my replica 87s from TruckAccessoryOutlet on eBay, it came with a set of wheel locks. I don't remember if they were OEMs or not, but probably not.

Anyone know if the replicas and OEM locks fit each other?

I use the OEM locks on the X5. I'll eventually switch over to the RAD locks that I have on my 330xi.

Lambeau: Your X5 should have 19mm bolts. The rest of the BMW lineup uses 17mm bolts.
