Help, Trailer Wiring Harness!!!
"Clip the trailer module onto the plastic carrier plate. Connect the black 15-pin socket housing to the trailer module." It will not clip in, you can see that the module is designed for a different recepticle. Yes it has 15 pins but the notches in the module do not match the socket housing. The wiring harness is correct and connects to the existing wiring but this module does not. Anyone have any ideas??? Is this "module" required??? It is apparently a device intended for something. This module socket housing is located right behind the battery. THANKS! |

You definately need the module to make it work. Maybe the connector changed with the year of the car and they gave you the wrong part for your year X5 ? Everyone I have done has just clicked together perfectly.

you have to open up the slide clip so that it will fit in... its not a direct plug in. slide the lock up, then the slots for the plug will fit in, then slide the lock close to auto-guide the plug tight

Hayaku you were correct! There is NOTHING in the instructions to even mention that. This is the perfect example of how helpful this site is!!!
THANKS HAYAKU!!! |

Lambeau - I had the same problem. It took me about 10 minutes of cussing to figure out that there was a cover over the plug...
