Question steering wheel shorted out... question

So I've noticed for a few months now that the buttons/lights on the steering wheel keep shorting out and not working: can't change channels, adjust volume, etc. Well, as of a few days ago, looks like it completely gave out finally: lights don't come on at night and none of the buttons work.

So I was thinking: if BMW will need to remove the entire wheel, isn't this a good time to put on an M3 paddle-shift wheel?

how much are they, and where can i get them?

There is one for sale in the for sale section for a few hundred. You can find them anywhere from $250 to $400. Since you already had the sport airbag it wont be too expensive.

It may not require the whole wheel to be removed. May just need the airbag to be removed and the 2 switch banks. (One each side.)

But since he's back there. Might as well replace the whole wheel with a new one with shifters...
