wider tires

Hi all, I would like to use widers tires on my x for better control and cornering, of course, without losing soft ride. Currently, I am using 17" rims with 235/65/17 tires. Can I change them with 255/60/17 tires without changing my rims? I understand that the original setting is 255/55/18 with 18" rims. However, it is pretty expensive to change rims, so I have this thought. Is it feasible? Any input will be much appreciated!

The 255/60/17 has the same rollong diametre as both the oem 18" and 17" set up.
In going to 255,you will only be going 10mm wider on either side ,so you should be ok,eventhough the 17" wheel is not that wide.
