Warning Triangle install

I just got the 2 brackets for this piece and while the large bracket that mounts closer toward the front of the car is pretty stable (had to move a few wires out of the way which was a pain) the small bracket (nearest the rear of the car) is pretty wobbly. The pin that keeps it in place seems to not be expanding the plastic parts enough for the bracket to sit flush with the metal bodywork. Is this normal? What are the experiences out there?

Next chance I get I'll snap a photo for you, send me a PM with your e-mail address. Briefly though, open up the side panel in the trunk where the nav system, cd changer, etc. are located. The warning triangle mounts in the top of that area. Mounted correctly it will run lengthwise (longitudinally) the vehicle. You'll have to look carefully for the pre-drilled holes that the two mounting brackets will "pop" into. If I remember correctly, those pre-drilled holes are in the actual metal structure of the car and are not located in any of the trunk lining pieces or anything else like that.
