I have an 02 model (I think), so it doesn't have BMW assist. Does anyone have more details as to how this procedure works?

If nothing works, should I break the side window? The dealership said the window was $240+parts, but I read another guy say that the window only cost $60 + labor to fix. I believe the post was on x5world.

TT,

Do what you have to do man.. did you try to remove the 4 trox screws and see if you access the inside lock mech... and c if that works..

No, how does that work? I need to come up with a plan, because the car is 2 hours away, so I need to bring/purchase the tools I'm going to need for whatever I'm going to do. Can someone walk me through opening the trunk through that strip? What tools do I need?

At this point, since I destroyed the key cylinder, what are my options? I can't even order a key from BMW since the lock cylinder is broken right?

From memory of others posts (Northern NJ) the X has been opened on a number of occasions by using a slide-hammer and screwdriver. The whole lock unit is pulled then the screwdriver is used.
There were a couple of "Locked my...." posts a few months ago and entry was gained in one case by the back hatch with just a little effort.
The guy who broke his window was most annoyed when he found out BMW Assist could have pointed him in the other direction.

I read those post, but I need more detailed instruction as to how to break the lock cylinder. If someone is willing to PM me or instruct me on how to break the rest of the lock cylinder, I would be willing to compensate you. I pulled out part of the lock cylinder already, so I just need to get to that extra step to break the rest of the lock cylinder and open the door.

what year is your X5? Do you have BMW assist?

OK, so im going to break the window. Which one is the cheapest to break? On REALOEM, it says that the passenger side window is the cheapest to replace, can anyone commnent on this? I would appreciate advice asap, as I'm going to do it right away.
