Really stupid window question

I am sure I will go "oh ya, why didn't i think of that" but, I noticed with the auto windows, they don't auto up or down with the door open. Any idea why?

Well, I have never tried to open or close the windows while the door was open. I can't tell you if mine is the same. Odd, that.

My engineering guess is that BMW doesn't want the possibility of the window falling out of its "guide" or "rail" in case you slam the door shut during the window's up and down motion
