New to the X5 world... question on diagnostics
Reading through this board I'm getting the impression from the SES reset discussions that post 01 production X5's have no diagnostics port... at all? can't be... how does the dealer diagnose the car?
I have the reset tool for my 95 740 IL and it came with an add on meant o work on 00 and newer models... but i just don't see where to plug it Last edited by 747x5; 06-14-2006 at 02:00 AM. |

Under the driver's side dash there is a little cover and the port is under (above actually) the cover. This is down in the pedals area.

You won't need your reset tool from the 740i. The underhood diagnostic port was eliminated. Here's a couple of articles that explain how to access the OBD scan codes (OBD code reader required) and how to reset the SES indicator:
