5 series to X5?

Before getting the X5 I was tempted to get a new 545 but instead I got the 4.4 X5. I was wondering did anyone came from a 545 or now the newer 550. I did not test drove the 5 series to compare to the X5. I know it's a different car one is very low and one has high ground clearance..

There are several threads on this. Here is one.

My wife and I took the 2004 545i for a test drive before deciding on the X5 4.4. We were replacing our Pathfinder so the X5 was a better fit to our needs.

I went from an E39 540i to an X5 4.4i for the additional space which I am making very good use of thank you very much. The back of my truck is loaded with garbage - junk I need to drop off at the Salvation Army. But damn it, I miss my manual tranny.

We went from a 2002 530i to a 2004 Jeep GC (gasp) and are about to put our order in for a 2006 X5. The additional space snowy winters is why we are not going back to the 530. After test driving the X5 and borrowing my sisters 2003 X5 we felt like we were home again and couldn't believe how very similar they are.

We are thinking of selling the 325ci and going for a 745...the mileage is not that much different and, wow the ventilated seats. Any negatives on the 7?

edit: Crap! I think I hijacked..
