Its not a challenge I just want to make sure before I do my job, and I heard the 04+ models have extra bulb for hard brakes? Anyway when I was smoking tai lights 02 clear and 05 tails looked the same from inside so I don’t think it should be hard, I will post pictures when I change them out Saturday probably.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not sure if it has extra bulbs, but I do believe the break lights are supposed to get brighter on extra-hard braking - just not sure how it's done... Good luck and looking forward to you pics!

I don't know if I correctly understand but I just did the upgrade from 01 sport clear to +04 clear, that was the easiest mod to date I did on the X cause it was only a matter of shaving on plastic tab on the new lights. That's why I'm thinking I misunderstood your post .

There's no retrofit kit, you just need to take the old ligths out and when you try to put the new ones in you'll feel them blocking a lil bit. There's a little raise tab on the new one which is part of plug holder for the light in the middle. Just shave it flat and you're all set. Like I said b4 it's almost plug in play, easiest mod ever.

your saying...applying more pressure to the brakes brightens the brakelights, without any extra wiring?

....if I'm not mistaken, the 21w bulb that goes into that socket (I did this mod last month) has two levels of light...one low level, always on when your lights are on, and one full bright as the brakes are depressed....like your others brake lights....that's how mine work....'01, 3.0...
