US spec 3.0 X5 tested on autobahn !!!
Shipped my X5 to Bremerhaven and took it to Denmark, Poland, Russia and Lithuania. What a trip!!!. However, shorter gearing of my 5 spd 3.0 was not enough for comfortable cruise on autobahn. Many, many times I was searching for a 6th gear as engine was turning 4000 rpms at 83 mph. At that speed fuel consumption was very high. Nevertheless, could not resist and took X5 to the redline few times...)) Once in Poland and Russia, I slowed down due to narrow roads and consumption got much better. Handling of X5 is amasing at high speeds, I am glad with my choise of SUV.

I have not driven the manual X5 but i think the RPM should not be that high for that speed.

can any other member with a manual X5 comment on this

See I love that vehicle message center because it doesn't say door ajar it shows you the door and headlights etc, I had it on my M3 and loved it, this one on mine (premium vehicle message center) is not as good in my opinion. On a side note i'm jealous of your speed

I'm afraid he is correct. I get about 133MPH @ those RPMs.

Options: PP, SP, DSP, NAV, XENON.
Mods: Aluminum Running Boards, 4.6 Body Kit, 20" Style 132 Wheels, Eisenmann Sport Exhaust with Oval tips, Aluminum pedals, Xenonmatch Fogs, M3 Steering Wheel.

Possibly a slipping clutch, but there's still 500+ to go before redline and fuel cut-off.

That has high rpm for manual. But then again, guess I am use to auto.

I thought all X5 3.0i after 2004 got a 6-speed manual.....

I know gearing is quite tight on the X5........I've heard many magazines say the manual isn't as easy to use as in most BMWs due to a rather abrupt clutch engagment point. Plus a 5.13 1st gear ratio paired to a 4.10 final drive must be a pain to start off in!

i start in 2nd 90% of the time. first is almost worthless.
