Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink...

Hey guys,
I live in the washington DC metro area and we have had a bit of a rainy season the last week with more to follow. Today I discovered after picking up my daughter from school that the foot well behind the drivers seat was soaked underneath the all weather mats. I lifted up all the mats and only that space was wet. When I say wet I don't mean damp, it was if someone had poured an entire glass of water there. I was not sure if the door seal was damaged since it was still lightly raining at the time so the door jam was getting wet. Does anyony have any idea as to how to tackle this mystery
