17-18 in town (very bad bumper to bumper traffic here) and about 21 on the highway.

I've got 67,000 miles on the X and I'm getting around 14-15 city and 20 highway. I usually drive around in sport mode. Much more fun for the lead foot.

61K on my 01 4.4 with sport package. My OBC that hasn't been reset in months shows 16.5 average.

Not that I have a 4.4 - I have the 2001 3.0i X5 and I get about 17 city and 23 to 24 highway. I have 30,000 on the ticker. But doesn't seem that far off from a V8; just an FYI as it is good info.

surprisingly, the 4.4 gets better mileage than the 3.0?!? Maybe it handles the weight better?

I'm getting the worse MPG, about 12-13MPG
All city driving, I have about 3 miles commute everyday. Went to LA a few weekends back and I did with a full tank about 450 miles, so that will be about 18MPG, not bad. The city driving it's killing me, anywhere from 10 - 13, but not more then 13MPG.
I have a 2003 4.4 sport package, 19" rims. |

I think the mpg is great with the size of the truck, and remember, it's a v8. my 3.0 has the same mpg as my old car, 1999 toyota 4dr 2wd RAV 4, which is around 19-20 mpg

I'm getting 14.7 on my '02 4.4i. However, my drive to the office is so short, all of my travel is by street. I'm usually closer to 15.8-16.0 when I'm traveling the freeways more regularly.
