I see where it seems as if I'm taking it a bit far. I'm using the remote escort units in both of my other vehicles which I love. It's just this S1 with all of the features that goes with our X5 that I can't pass up so easily. It's too bad that the S1 wouldn't interface with Escorts remote unit or that V1 wouldn't make a remote unit.

Headrest install pics.. I'll have to do a search for that. Why would you lose laser capability with a headrest install?

Thinking out loud; my 4.8 is an 04 model and in the headliner behind the huge sunroof in the center is a lump; looks like a great place for a V1 but I'm almost positive that this is for the sunroofs motor. Can anyone verify this? How much room is there inside that headliner?

I believe that they put the v1 in the actual headrest and for laser, the v1 needs direct contact with the sensors. Radar passes through material, unlike laser. Please correct me if I am wrong.

That said, an ideal situation for me would be to have the k40 interface with the s1...
