My Salesman F##ked me! help!

im ready to kill my salesman. He told me to come down by friday this week to order my 2006 X5 so i went a day early today and he says sorry but he just found out that monday was the last day to special order an X5 but they have 1 4.4 left on the lot and 3 on the way and i can pick. Not one is what i want. Im gonna kill him im so pissed. So now tomorrow i gotta start searching all over the place for the one i want. Meanwhile i already filled out a credit app and figured out a price based on what i wanted. the only thing left to do was order it.

Before i start looking I had a couple of questions. I like the anthracite wood but i noticed it is very hard to find. I was wondering how hard is it to swap the wood trim if i just swapped it with my 2004. so it would make it easier to find one since 90% of the X5s dont have the anthracite trim.

Next question. I know the servotronic steering is an option now. My question is, is it worth it or should i just forget about this option. has anyone here had 2 x5s with the 2 diff steering systems that can comment. and what is the difference anyway. I really dont know much about the servotronic.

Also my 2004 has DSP with cd changer. I was wondering if i get an 2006 with no DSP can i use my current cd changer with it. I think i read somewhere you can.

Lastly. I noticed that 2004 headlamp assemblies have a different part number than 2006 assemblies even though there seems to be no change at all. Does anyone know if my 2004 clear headlights will fit my 2006.

Thanks for the help guys ahead of time.

P.S.
Hey Fulanito where did you get your led rear lights that blink when they turn on? and your angel eye kit you got to make it look like HIDs

FWIW, if the dealer's stock units are not built yet, it may be possible for him to change configurations even though you can't order one from scratch. Just an idea...

CD changer and wood trim can be swapped anytime.
Who is this crazy dealer? Hope its New country or Ridgefield? They have screwed others as well. Try WestchesterBMW.com and ask for Lance, they are big and I am very happy with them. He went to great lenghts to reconfigure an E90 in production and get it for me quick. I changed my mind, which is another story.

I would definitely try a different dealer to get the car that you want.

Thanks for the info guys. Im gonna call a bunch of dealers today to see what is going on. As far as reconfiguring the optins on the 3 on order he said its too late for that they are already in production.

well what about my headlamp question in my first post. anyone know a definate answer for that.

for a few of your Q's. CD changer with no DSP? This is my exact setup on a 2001. I also have servotronic and love it. I've driven my X when the servotronic didnt work (malfunction with on board comp.), could be the same as an X without servo, and I much prefer with. Good luck.

I'd call BMW USA. I would guess they may be able to pull some strings for you considering the problem you encoutered. If you lead them to believe that you will buy a different model car if they cannot accomodate you, I think they will suddenly be able to take an order on a X5. Good Luck!
