acs pedals go over existing rubber?

Just got my acs pedals and am wondering if they go over the existing rubber, or is it removed first? Same question with the foot rest plate?

I had removed the oem dead pedal for flush mount.

Take the rubber off, and apply the new ACS pedals on top of the metal (or plastic, in the case of the dead pedal/footrest area).
