3.0/4.4 to 4.8 Grilles

For those of you who have put the 4.8is front bumper on your 3.0's and 4.4's, were you able to use your original lower grilles (from your non-4.8 bumper) or do you need to order 4.8 ones?

I re-used the original 4.4 grille inserts. They're the same.

I reused mine too. You do need to get the flaps though. The ones that were on the original bumper don't go flush...

It looks like you have a pre facelift. Are you doing a facelift?

could you elaborate on the flaps? not sure what you're referring to.

And yes i've been collecting parts and last week while i was getting my 19's mounted/balanced they drove my x5 into the machine and scratched up the front bumper pretty badly, so the process has been started earlier than i had expected. i've had the 4.8 bumper for a month or so, and i'm waiting for the hood/fenders which i just won on ebay last week. Also im trying to decide whether to try to get the xenon euro clears to work or sell them and get the halogen euro clears.

There are little black flaps on the front bumper next to the PDC controls. Mine didn't fit flush so I had to order the 4.8is ones which did...

You still didn't sell the euro clears? For the price, it was a great deal...

Ok i'll check it out. Thanks for the help.

I havent sold the headlights yet and i'm thinking about keeping them, i just don't know who would be able to wire them to work on my 2001. If its too much of a project i'm going to try and get the halogen euro clears because i imagine it would be easier. I got an estimate today for the facelift and painted door handles/trunk handles. It was 4100 with parts (incl. headlights) and this shop specializes in bmws (they do the body work for Herb Chambers which is a huge dealership in this area and they use glasurit paint). But since i have the majority of the parts it came to 2000. I'm getting 1000 for the accident so final cost should be about 1000. Good deal i'd say.
