Your number one, yes all the time. On this board, your number two item
has been mentioned quite a bit. Did you get a tranny update by the way?

No tranny update. The last time I was at the dealer, I mentioned the first problem. They test drove it and pronounced it was normal (don't know if they experienced the problem or not). The second issue seems to have shown up more frequently lately. I will bring it up at the next service and see what happens.

I was just hoping to get some "ammunition" for my next service visit from others on this forum that have had these problems and experienced a fix with updated transmission software.

I know there are some 2005 people here who have updates and had improvement. Try a search or maybe they will chime in.

I posted this thread. Th esoftware re-preogram was for harsh up and down shifts at lower rpm and not transmission hesitation. Glad to reports no problems since.

The E60 board over at E60.net, has documented this many times and they have many long threads documenting it. They call it the transmission slam, or something like that, try running a search.

One member also got an explanation of why it happens from ZF (I think they make the 6 speed auto, or maybe it was another company - the E60 shares the same transmission as the 4.4i). Point is, ZF promised a fix for it, and so maybe the fix is out already...

Thanks for the reply. I will check it out.

I had seen earlier posts in this forum regarding this problem in the E53, I just couldn't find much evidence that a software update had eliminated the problem (mixed reviews at best)....maybe it's something that we have to live with...

It sounds like our trany's software is written by Microsoft company or Micro product, update batch....... I think it should be updated free. If the software update is not a problem, then it means the trany oil does not meet its 100K miles.
