Replacing TV/Video module and radio module

Hi there! My TV/Video module and radio module are dead, dealer told me to replace them, however the price they offer is too high to accept, so I decided to buy a new TV/Video mudule and radio module in Ebay and replace them by myself. Anyone in this forum has the experience of replacing these two module before? Please give me some information how to replace them and paste pictures would be much appreciated!

One more thing, someone told me that I have to encode the modules before I use them after installation. Can I use Carsoft to encode them? If not, how can I encode them? Thxxxx!

TV modules should not need to be coded - just swap the pieces and you're done.

Thanks Tom G.

May I use the TV/Video module and radio BMW professional module which are equipped in newer model of X5 (saying 2005 made X5 4.4i or X5 4.8is) to be equipped in my 12/2000 made x5 4.5i? By the way, are you sure that the new TV/Video module does not require to be coded before use? Since the BMW service center in Hong Kong told me that the module must be coded before use, otherwise it is useless. Thanks for any input on this issue.

I just browsed your website and found the there is a product called BMW Navigation Radio Tuner Upgrade - AUX & Sirius compatible. Is it a BMW OEM product? What is the part number? And is it called Radio BMW Professional in BMW terms? I am looking for Radio BMW Professional module for my X5 since the old one is dead. Can I use it to be equipped in my X5?

The TV modules do not require coding in the states, nor have I ever heard of one needing to be coded. You should be fine.

This is OEM Becker BM53 unit, BMW Professional is an overseas term (called Business CD here in the states). This would work in your application as well, the setting would need to be changed in the service menu. This is a simple process that can be excuted with a simple key command and without the need of a dealer visit or coding.

Thanks for your prompt reply, Tom G!

In Hong Kong, all radio and video module are ECE version (European version). So is the radio module in your website workable and compatible in Hong Kong? Will you ship your product to Hong Kong, if you do, what is the shipping cost?

Thanks!

Yes, the area can be changed in the Settings mode to different locations. This is so the same radio tuner can be used globally.

USPS Global Express Mail is about $30-$35USD to ship to Hong Kong, about half the price of FedEx. An exact quote can be given upon checkout.
